The staff at Sound Counseling Center, LLC are dedicated and committed to offering a range of services to meet the needs of individuals, families and the communities we serve.  Michelle A. Kenefick, LCSW, SEP started Sound Counseling Center, LLC in 2010 as the result of the increasing demands of clientele seeking shorter term, solution focused and professional counseling services.

 

Today, we continue to offer counseling for individuals, couples and families however we have grown to include a spectrum of adjunct services that include groups, classes in mindfulness, workshops, trainings and retreats for professionals (human services, law enforcement, first responders and health care), consultation and training to organizations and special retreat offerings for care-givers (professional and family).

 

We remain committed to offering prompt and professional service, a practical and solution focused approach to solving the challenges you face, along with the utmost compassion, care and sensitivity.  We believe that treatment should be driven by the person seeking help as you are the expert on you and your family.  By joining together in partnership, we can accomplish the unique goals that you set.

 

 

How we work together...

 

We believe that therapy is a collaborative process.  Together, we explore the reasons you are seeking counseling and identify the goals you want to accomplish.  Next, we focus on the obstacles you've identified and explore how you might overcome them by building self-awareness and insight.  With a solid foundation in place, we will explore difficult emotions and find ways to harness that energy so that it can be used as a catalyst for change.

 

Treatment methods include diverse theoretical approaches that are determined by the presenting issues and your goals.  Common practices include mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  All of our work is infused with a strengths-based, trauma-informed framework that focuses on building your strengths and potential rather than looking for what is wrong or in need of fixing. We believe that all challenges are opportunities for growth and change.
